Instrument details
Acronym MICAP
Full name Microwave Imager Combined Active and Passive
Purpose To measure ocean salinity, sea surface temperature and windspeed.
Short description

MICAP, is a 1-D passive/active combined system, where the L-, C-, and K-band interferometric radiometers’ antenna arrays are arranged in a line, and the active device is an L-band scatterometer. sharing a parabolic cylinder reflector. It operates at 1.4, 6.9, 18.7, and 23.8 GHz and an L-band (1.26 GHz) scatterometer.
